The South Carolina Arts Alliance advances the arts for all South Carolinians through advocacy, leadership development, and public awareness.
Arts Industry Credentials
The creative industry in South Carolina supports over 115,000 jobs. This Arts Grow SC project aims at strengthening the pipeline for this workforce, beginning with high school students. Through collaboration, research, and advisement from arts industry partners, higher education programs, and public high schools Arts Grow SC will identify and propose career pathways in the arts that can be supported by sequential curriculum, hands-on industry experience, and industry-specific skills training.
This work will result in the formation of new arts industry credential programs, certified by the SC Department of Education, that provide high school students with opportunities to gain unique and targeted expertise in their arts field of study. Over the next three years, at least five (5) credentials will be launched – either in formal proposals or pilot phases – that align with the needs of the professional arts industry and higher education programs in the arts. These credentials, which can include industry-backed certifications, will give students a competitive advantage when entering the workforce, or a higher education program.
